Typical litigation cases involve temporary restraining orders and injunctive relief actions, breach of contract claims and defenses, employment matters, debt collection matters, deceptive trade practice prosecutions and defenses, and landlord-tenant matters (including evictions). Commercial litigation areas include contract disputes; business torts, including tortious interference with contractual relations, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty; Alter ego issues; officer and director liability; securities and shareholder rights; employee relations and benefits; insurance coverage; deceptive trade practices and consumer fraud.
When considering litigation, clients should be aware of his or her options. In addition to the courtroom, there are other forums that might be appropriate, depending on the specific needs of the business. Alternative dispute resolution (ADR), may be a desirable alternative to litigation or, if the cause of action is of an eligible size, small-claims court may be another venue for a client to consider. A client contemplating bringing or defending a lawsuit would be well served by consulting with a seasoned trial attorney to better understand all of the legal options. Our firm can provide that legal advice.
